High Dynamic Range...

So, I came across a program that can compile pictures called HDR, which stands for "High Dynamic Range." These pictures have detail in the light areas as well as in the dark ones. This is accomplished by using different exposure settings on the camera, and taking about five to seven pictures of the same scene with these different shutter speeds. Then the images are compiled together to blend all the detail from these different areas, light and dark, alike. The result is a surreal-looking picture, that has detail all around, and no parts are washed out.

Dreaded Guest

Well, it has happened. Today, I came home from the college, to find, to my ultimate dismay, some unknown luggage in my room: Needless to say, I am not pleased. I mean, I have to split apart my king-sized bed. Not to mention, I have to clean up my room!
Okay, that's not really the problem. But I do like my space. Hopefully this guy is cool. But he's short, so I don't expect much.
I'm kidding again, folks. More to come as I get to know this guy.

"Any way you want it, that's the way you need it..."

I don't know exactly what the point is of blogging this, but I'll do it anyway. I'm just listening to Journey, thinking of the next musical artist to sample, and contemplating BUYING some more blankets and such for my bed. Also, a job would be nice. But first I need my car up here. I would prefer an off-campus job to an on-campus one, for the sake of experience. And something in an original field would be cool. I love new experiences. And, surprisingly, I am better with people than one might think, especially my parents. For one reason or another, I have a hard time showing them some of the impressive sides of myself; I fear that they won't appreciate them enough. So, I build them up by acting less qualified than I am, so when I DO show the side of them that everyone knows, they are more impressed. Do many other people do that?

I saw an add-on for a poll program, so I think I'll try to set that one up.

October the Sixth.

Well, there's not much to say, but I guess that's what blogging is, in essence. It's what one writes when one has nothing else to say.
I read through another article by Ron Paul, which reaffirmed that the monetary system in this country is spinning in a downward spiral. The closest thing I could analogize is the water in a toilet bowl.
I am an avid reader of economics and political books by Ron Paul, Murray N. Rothbard, and Ludwig von Mises. The latter is the founder of the Mises Institute of Economics, where free economics principles (named "Austrian Economics") are taught.
Another thing I recently discovered is a video/documentary film about the twin towers of the World Trade Center. Now, this video has a few "conspiracy theory" themes to it, and, in my opinion, jumped to some exorbitant conclusions.
However, I do consider myself well-versed in practical physics, and some of the evidence and video clips shown in the documentary cause me to very much doubt the story the mainstream news would have us eat up.
I haven't had much trust in the mainstream news for a while, and part of it is from the talk shows of Rush Limbaugh that got me started. Even as I listen to Rush, though, I realize that his opinions are almost poisoned to excess by being a conservative. I tend to get most of my news stories from LewRockwell.com now.
Enough of me, though. I am always interested in the opinions of my readers, so I invite you to share with me/everyone else who visits here, what YOU personally believe happened on September 11th, 2001. Just post a comment, and speak your mind. I want to hear from you!

Grand Opening of Theater 47

Theater 47 is the new name of the apartment wherein I live, in Logan, Utah. It is so named because of the large LCD screen present in the apartment, as well as the 4-speaker stereo system connected to the TV. The new PhotoShopped picture is complete, as shown above.

Roommates at college

I had a roommate here at the beginning of the semester named David. He was a great guy. But he was getting a little behind on his homework and such, to the point where he decided to recoup his losses and move back home, and try again next semester. So he left. Well, he was the other man in my room here, so when I glanced into my room that afternoon, and saw the barren twin-sized bed, there was only one feasible option: Slide the two beds together, and have myself a king-sized bed. This would only last as long as David was in ownership of his contract; also, if he felt the desire to spend the night up in Logan, I would have to split my bed while he stayed. But, for the most part, the bed remained mine. The whole room was mine. Until about thirty minutes ago, that is...
There was a knock on the door. A.J. was asleep on the couch, so Robert (engaged to Kim, who lives in Apartment 37), William, and I were initially hesitant to holler the usual "Come in!" to invite the stranger into the apartment. But after a second, William and Robert issued the summoning greeting. There were no sounds on the other side of the door.
Again, they called, a little louder this time. Still nothing. So I, sitting at the computer, hop up, and walk to the door, and open it to our guests. This time, there were three people outside: Two gentlemen and a lady. They came in, and introductions were exchanged. Then they stated their purpose for the visit: One of the gentlemen (named Brandon) will be purchasing David's contract, and will be moving into the apartment in approximately a week.
I was none too excited to hear this statement. It was short-lived, my private-room experience, yet I suppose it is for the better. It is only to say that when i actually honestly come to sleep on a king-sized bed, it will be all the more rewarding. Also, I no longer see any need to purchase king-sized sheets for the bed; there were some fleece bedsheets available at the Wal-Mart here, but now there is an unmistakable answer to whether or not I should purchase the sheets..

September Eleventh

Here I am, on September Eleventh, two-thousand-eight, and I'm thoroughly enjoying my classes. Instead of Calculus, though, I got roped into taking Statistics 2300, and it's very good that I did; one of my roommates, William, is taking that class as well, so it will give him the advantage of availing himself of my help.
I'm converting a High-Definition copy of "The Hunt for Red October" to WMV format, to play on my XBox 360, streamed from my computer. I have a bunch of HDMI cables in the mail, so hopefully I can get my computer directly wired into the TV, to stream Hi-Def content right over. That'll sure be nice.

Moved In

It's Sunday night, the night before school starts. I'm signed up for Calculus, Chemistry, and Engineering, so I'm excited about it.
I'm rooming with three other guys. A.J. Kim, William Porter, and David something-or-rather. I haven't seen much of David, he's been away for the weekend. He did buzz in one time to shower, but then he left again. And he's not here yet, and it's eleven, so I'll probably see him tomorrow night or something.
Well, that's the first update. I'll get more info up here, and maybe even a few pictures, so stay tuned! The blog has just begun!
